Prioritisation and decision making

Prioritisation is something we manage regularly, at all stages of the product lifecycle, and at both the micro and macro levels.

• Ensure that prioritisation activities evaluate each feature/initiative against user impact, business value, and technical effort/risk.
• Establish an appropriate decision-making framework and feedback mechanisms that allow for the effective triage of emerging or changing needs while minimising disruption to the delivery team.
• Establish regular prioritisation review cycles that allow for changing circumstances.
• Facilitate prioritisation workshops with stakeholders using light-weight structured techniques like dot voting or ranking exercises.
• Use established prioritisation techniques with the delivery team, and consider the most appropriate approach for each prioritisation activity. • Ensure that those involved in prioritisation are informed by access to available insights, such as usage analytics, feedback and testing results and business metrics.
• Document prioritisation rationales to support future decision-making and discussions.
